Lord Nelson Halifax Wedding | Jewish Ceremony

The Lord Nelson Hotel is one of Halifax’s classic wedding venues — a historic space set right across from the Public Gardens, with a mix of old character and a central downtown location.

This wedding brought a personal layer into that setting, starting with a handmade chuppah built by the groom, a woodworker. It became the focal point of the ceremony — simple, intentional, and tied directly to who they are.

Being steps from the Public Gardens, we took advantage of the location for portraits. It’s a spot that can feel overused to some, but when the light is right and the pace is relaxed, it works in a way that feels timeless.

From there, we stepped outside the traditional path and headed into Halifax’s north end, stopping at Compass Distillers — one of their favourite spots — for a different kind of portrait setting. Something more personal, more reflective of how they actually spend time together.

The day wrapped back at the Lord Nelson with a full Jewish celebration — high energy, packed dance floor, and the kind of atmosphere that builds naturally when everyone is fully in it.

A mix of tradition, personal detail, and a few unexpected turns throughout the day.
