Whale Watching Wedding

Photography by Jenn Nauss

Whale watching on your wedding day? Becky + John planned a small wedding that also happened to showcase their very adventurous sides. Include the fact that Becky used to work with Mariner Cruises Whale and Seabird Tours for three years, they definitely found the perfect location to tie the knot!

It was quite the trek to their ceremony that required a drive to the southern end of Nova Scotia, catching two ferries, hopping on the boat, and then a sail out to sea before settling on the perfect spot for them to say their “I do’s”.

And let me tell you, it was all worth it!

Wildlife can be completely unpredictable, so we all knew there would be a chance of not seeing any whales. But wow, did mother nature ever deliver for them! There were countless whales, birds and dolphins putting on a show for the entire tour, even coming along side the boat, as if to wave “congratulations” to the newlyweds. Suddenly FOUR whales breached at the same time! Becky said that she had never seen a breach like that in all her years of experience working the tours.

After catching a beautiful sunset, Becky + John snuck away to a completely deserted beach and had the most intimate first dance under the moonlight, just the two of them. The night concluded perfectly at a bonfire with s’mores and hot dogs.

Congratulations and thank you Becky + John! And a big thanks to our friends over at CTV Atlantic for sharing their wonderful story!
